You’re exhausted, burnt out and you’ve had enough. All your efforts at change seem fruitless. Fear and anxiety are controlling you, making you feel helpless and no one’s around to support you, not even your dog. You do all that you can to stop the worry but it only makes things worse, leaving you discouraged and disconnected from others. Depression has you imprisoned, the grief and loss is overwhelming, and darkness and despair have become the only constants in your life. You don’t want to die but you can no longer live with the pain.

The marital conflicts with your husband are never ending and any hope for restoration has departed. The pain of the divorce feels like a death and you’re overwhelmed with guilt, shame and condemnation. You try to reach out to others but they don’t listen, they’re too busy or worse, they’re the problem. Each time you hear a cliché you want to slap the person silly and rip your skin off. “Everything happens for a reason, Have more faith, Just get over it.”  Really? Providing you a spiritual Rx when they are clearly uncomfortable with the pain your suffering with is disheartening, invalidating and just downright cruel. All this does is trigger doubts about God, His love for you and where He is in this process. “If He’s so great and powerful, then why won’t He make it stop? What “good” could possibly come from this anxiety, depression, conflict or worse, death? Why hasn’t He taken the pain away?”

You think about talking to a therapist or a counselor, but you worry whether they will discount or diminish your faith. Will they think you are crazy for talking to God? The last thing you need right now is someone that doesn't share your values telling you what to do and shaming you for believing in and wanting God to be part of your healing process.

Ladies, whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, marriage conflict or life after divorce, the battles and warfare you are facing are real, they’re painful, they are much more than you can handle, but they’re not speaking truth. My name is Patricia, and I’m here to help.
